Austin Adoption Day
When: Nov. 7, 2013
Chair: Denise Hyde
Coordinates the annual Adoption Day event, including organizing bear and book drives, gathering donations of food, balloons, and gift basket items. Interested committee members handle cases pro bono.
Time commitment: Three one-hour meetings from September to November; additional one to two hours gathering donations; an hour or two the day prior to the event to help decorate; attending the event.

Animal Welfare - NOW A SECTION!
The Animal Welfare Committee is now the Animal Law Section of the Austin Bar Association. You must be an Austin Bar member to join the section. Click here for the membership form. 

Fee Dispute with Attorneys
Chairs: Shawn St. Clair and Stephen Moss
Mediates and/or arbitrates fee disputes submitted by clients, attorneys, the courts, and the District 9 Grievance Committee.
Time commitment: One to two three-hour mediations per year.

Chairs: Brad Houston and Ranelle Meroney
Organizes attorney teams for a variety of community fitness events, such as the Capitol 10K, the Austin Heart Walk, and Mamma Jamma. In addition, the committee occasionally offers CLE and fitness together.
Time commitment: Extremely flexible.

People's Law School
When: Sept. 28, 2013, and Feb. 22, 2014
Chairs: Nikki Darter, Greg Lowry, Scott Milner, and Philip Svahn
Plans the People's Law School, a half-day program of basic law classes offered free for the public in September and February.
Time commitment: Monthly one-hour meetings in August and September and December through February; some additional time securing logistics of event; and volunteering at the events.

Veterans Project
Chairs: Randy Howry and Jo Ann Merica
Provides legal advice at one or more of the clinics held monthly at the new VA Outpatient Clinic.
Time commitment: Depends on your availability - clinics are held monthly for three hours.
